Mersus Technologies hosts an Undergraduate Internship Programme for students from colleges across Ireland, with placements varying in length depending on your course requirements. We have welcomed students from TUS, ATU, DkIT, Maynooth University, DCU, and Trinity College Dublin — and many of our interns have gone on to careers in the immersive technology industry, including here at Mersus.
What You’ll Actually Work On
This is not an internship spent watching from the sidelines. Our interns contribute to live projects on Avatar Academy, the VR training platform used by organisations including Boston Scientific, Johnson & Johnson, and Siemens. Depending on your course and skills, you could be working on:
- 3D modelling and environment design
- Unity development and VR interaction programming
- Motion capture and animation
- QA testing across Meta Quest hardware
- UI and UX design for immersive environments
- Real deliverables that ship to real clients
By the end of your placement you will have production experience on a commercial VR platform, a portfolio of work you can show future employers, and a working understanding of how immersive technology is built and delivered in a professional studio. You will also learn the parts they cannot teach in college — client deadlines, sprint planning, code review, and what it takes to ship software that companies depend on.
We welcome students from games development, computer science, animation, 3D design, and related courses. More important than your specific course is your curiosity — the interns who get the most from their time here are the ones who ask questions, take ownership, and want to understand how everything fits together.
